Least Expensive Tire to Replace 275 60 20 Review Forums

1lowlife [OP] Toxic prick and pavement princess..

I've idea for months my next tire would exist Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT when it came time to buy new tires.

Truck came with 285/55/xx KOs when new.
Didn't realize how stiff they where until my 6112/5160 install.

Bought KO2s a few years ago, the ride is a piffling amend.
Been wearing pretty skillful, only I'm about 5K or and so miles from needing new tires.
I want a good long lasting tire that may ride smoother than the KO2s, only however have an aggressive presence including the sidewall.

Went by my local Discount Tire to get an idea of what new tires are going to cost.
Toll paid isn't the biggest point for me, looks, road noise, and ride are.
I RARELY get off the road, I don't tow, don't haul much, but the truck being leveled with fender flares does give information technology an aggressive stance.

The sales guy starting discussing other options, so I listened to what he had to say.
He kinda pushed me towards the Nittos, the manager heard our word and he suggested the Goodyear.
Never been a Goodyear, fan but I'll certainly enquiry them.

They stated the Nitto and Goodyear are P-Metric and the KO2 and AT3 XLT are LT-Metric.
Meaning, from them, the P-Metric would give me a smoother ride.
I value the input from you forum members, that know more than I do, over that of a salesman.

I'thousand as well trying to figure if I want to buy their Document coverage.
I've bought it for my last iii sets of tires from DT and never had to use information technology.
    So I'll that to the poll, you'll have 2 selection choices;
    1 for the tire
    i for the warranty

So here we are, these are my choices:

    ane. COOPER DISCOVERER AT3 XLT
    What I think I want. E1 rated
    $276 each
    $1291 prorated warranty
    $1479 with DT Certificate coverage

    2. BFG KO2
What I take at present and would consider ownership again. D1 rated
    $247 each
    $1165 prorated warranty
    $1334 with DT Certificate coverage

    3. NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER G2
Looks too much similar a street tire to me, probably should accept left them out of the poll. XL rated
    $228 each
    $1084 prorated warranty
    $1240 with DT Document coverage

    4. GOODYEAR WRANGLER ULTRATERRAIN AT
Would consider if the masses voted for it.
Squeamish looking tire and tread. SL rated
$220 each, said they would do $200 each
    $1050 prorated warranty
    $1200 with DT Certificate coverage

    Thanks for the help.....

  2. The Terra Grappler isn't the all-time for rain after they have miles on them. They get pretty slippery.

I'one thousand glad yous said this, that tire was in my consideration. I was mixed on it until at present. OP, I was considering the showtime three options besides and the Coop'south and the Nittos were tied for 1st choice ( but no feel with them) and 2nd were the BFGs (I have had before simply non currently). Simply I accept to say I'one thousand kinda liking the expect of the Goodyear!
I'g sub'd to see what others are saying too!
  4. The Ridge Grapplers are pretty good as an selection.

I was curious about the Ultraterrain when looking for our 4R before this year. I went with the Cooper AT3 there and have been happy. For the price difference yous show in a higher place, I'd probably go agead and try the Ultraterrains.

We usually go the coverage - a lot of construction around where we live and nobody secures loads properly, so we've had a couple screws in the shoulder part of the tire they would not plug/repair. They're probably even so ahead if I actually crunched the numbers, but I was glad we didn't have to pay for a new tire those times nosotros actually used the coverage

Accept you considered P-rated Cooper AT3 4S? I take them and similar them in 275/60R20. A bonus too ride is that vs an E-rated your mpg will become upwardly ane-2 and you will discover improved dispatch.

I went with the Coopers. I was in aforementioned boat went from 285/55 KO2s to 275/60 AT3s. No regrets. I did take a slight balancing issue only I think that was due to a slung weight.

I mainly drive blacktop and accept no bug with them. I did skid in one case in deep snow in CO, but it wasn't because of the tires.

Edit to specify the AT3 XLTs.

  8. I have and voted for the coopers, but looking at your list, all of them are higher load rated except for the ultraterrains. If y'all tin can get those in the size and if they are standard load- they will ride much better than any of the higher load or Eastward load tires. They should also exist lighter (site says 45lbs which is basically stock weight) which volition assistance in operation and MPG. The other tires will probable be x+ lbs heavier, each tire.....certainly the example for E load.

And so, I similar (and have them on my truck) the coopers, but East load tires ride pretty house and can even be unsettled at times on a Tundra. If there was standard load or C load tires available in the size and tire I wanted, I would without hesitation move away from E load and into standard or C load.

The cooper XLTs practice bang-up on the road, wet, mine are 3 top rated and they look peachy and bulky. They also have a skillful tread warranty- 60k. They are however pretty expensive for the size you are because. Those ultraterrains are cheaper and in SL load, are going to ride and bulldoze really well. Pretty certain they do non have a tread warranty. I think they are all solid choices. The coopers volition do everything you may need and are quiet. The UTs will ride better than the rest and are cheaper. Your option will depend on what is most important to you- ride, tire warranty, etc.

    Thanks for the input guys..
I did fail to mention DT offers a 30 day bandy bargain.

If I did endeavour try the Goodyear tires and didn't similar them, I could then get the Coopers..
I may do that, I really would like a smoother ride.
Not the floating gunkhole-like ride with the stock black shocks, but what I have now is a fiddling jarring on good sized bumps in the road..

I've got a couple months to call up nearly it.
    I appreciate y'all all..

I don't run the aforementioned size simply I have experience with some of tires on your list.

I had Nitto terra grapplers on Tundra before size 305/55/20 XL rated. They were smoothen and quiet. I was happy with them. But I agree with you, they don't look every bit aggressive. Would I buy again?...probably non unless they come up out with design.

I now have the Cooper AT3 XLT size LT305/55/R20 on Tundra for near 2 years now. They ride smooth and quiet. I love them, I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. I was likewise worried they would ride rougher bc of LT tire but I don't think it'south whatsoever stiffer than the nitto I had. For comparison I take LT Toyo RT on my Sequoia and they are stiffer than the coopers.

I had BFG KO on my one-time Tacoma years ago. While it was a proficient tire, I did find a stiffer ride. I never tried them on my Tundra so it wouldn't be a off-white comparing.

I don't have whatsoever feel with those Goodyear Ultra Terrain AT merely they await like a good tire. I've also considered them but I had the GY duratrac in past and was not a fan. Something to also keep in mind is that these Ultra Terrain tires are Discount tire sectional so they may have more incentive or turn a profit to push this tire. (Goose egg wrong with that) I'm in no way bashing DT or questioning the people at DT. I honey discount tire and buy lots from them. Since they are offer yous thirty mean solar day test , I would give the GY ultra terrain a try.

Keep us updated, I would be interested to hear your review on the Goodyear Ultra terrain AT tires if you lot decide to try them.

  16. I'g glad I establish your pic - I've been living in a pit of regret after getting the TSS package and discovering how soft the stock Goodyears are when towing. Thinking of getting these E rated Coopers, seems like they should address the problem!

Planning on 275/60/R20 size, ie the max I can run on my unlifted truck.
